Wide Area Networks for Online Passengers Information System
A wide area network is being planned to connect all the Bus Stations in A.P. and adjoining states, to provide facility to passengers know the reservation status of the services from any Bus Station. This network will be connected to the existing network which covers Corporate Office, MGBS, JBS, Zonal and Regional Offices and Depots. Similarly, the Zonal and Regional Stores located at various Districts in the state are also planned to be connected.

Application software migration in Depots.
The existing application software of Depot Computerization project (DCP) was developed in Cobol on Unix/Linux Operating System. It is proposed to migrate the same to RDBMS (Relational database Management System), with GUI (Graphical User Interface) front end. This will strengthen the database at the Depots and will provide better data analysis features which are very important for better planning of services and increasing traffic revenue. Further this migration will enable integration of DCP application software with other applications like ACTIS, OLIMS etc. Also this project will lay foundation for scaling into web enabled application which is an essential business requirement in coming years.

Networking of all Depots
It is proposed to network all the Depots with the central office to enable the following advantages.
1. Controlling the application software centrally.
2. Providing access to live data like service details to passengers through kiosks etc.

3. Ability to connect to Bus station which will facilitate the Managers to increase the services     when there is a spurt in traffic.

4. Data from all the Depots can be directly accessed by the Regional/Zonal/Corporate office     for analysis and planning.

Current and advanced reservation through TIMS
This project is proposed for implementing current and advance booking through TIMs in the Bus Stations where ACTIS is not available. On-line queries regarding availability of seats and online updating of reservation status (on reserving seats through TIMs) will be enabled through GPRS connectivity between TIMs and ACTIS server.

GPS in TIMs
This proposed to track the vehicles online which enables the following advantages:
1. Punctuality of services can be monitored accurately.
2. Better services can be provided to clientele about arrival timings, availability of seats in the     buses etc.

3. Information can be immediately received during any calamities/accidents.

RFID readers in TIMs

This is proposed to provide RFID reader in TIMs to obtain the following advantages.

1. Verification of authority and validity of bus passes.
2. Online renewal of bus passes which enables the pass holder to renew the bus passes     without going to any counter.
